Seeing all of these children in Ecuador has totally changed my paradigm about children.

The Global Hunger Index Report defines a term called the first 1,000 days.  This 1,000 day period begins with the conception of a child and lasts for 1,000 days.  During this period, if the child (or fetus) does not get good nutrition, the child will suffer irreversible damage and never reach his/her full potential.

This is one reason why we need the children to have good clean purified drinking water.

These children don’t have nice toys, nice clothes, clean homes, or even toilets.  Ouch.  They may never grow up to be as tall or as smart as they might have been.

Isn’t it amazing that they are still smiling and content.  These children are just wonderful… full of grace: kind of like angels.  This makes me rethink some of the stories that Jesus told:

And Jesus said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. “(Matthew 18:3)

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14)

You know, when Brittany Moroney washed little Marvin’s hair and his feet… wow.  It just makes you stop and think.
